SPOILERS Confused about Discworld 2 plot.

At 2:39:07 you see Rincewind in the projector room and then later you see him at 3:16:49 with Death. Then at 3:17:15, the movie(clickie) which the audience is watching shows him with Death again at the same location and then the credits from the movie roll. After that, at the projector room at 3:17:54 you see Rincewind. So does that mean everything that the player sees in in that whole time period after 2:39:07 was just part of the movie that was being shown? I'm quite confused.

Hmm ... this is only speculation, so please don't take it as gospel.

I think that in the end (just before 3:17:54), Rincewind re-makes the film (though who is rolling the camera while Rincewind is asleep and Death waves goodbye, I have no idea). Unfortunately, he doesn't think to test-watch it, and so it ends really really badly (on blank screens). The crowd predictably boos. Rincewind splices in pictures of the Elven Queen again, and everyone is mesmerised ... until the real Elven Queen materialises.

It's best not to think too deeply about this game. It breaks a few things that are almost canon about Discworld - for instance:

1. Ponder Stibbons as a mad scientist???
2. Rincewind outsmarts Granny Weatherwax???

... and so on.

Oddly, no matter how many times I play all three Discworld games, THIS is the one I struggle to remember (often after only a few days). I must have played it twenty times, and I still can't remember what it's about beyond having Rincewind as the main character. The other two I can practically quote from verbatim!

I think the plot of Discworld 2 follows (more or less) the plot of Reaper Man, with many, many deviations.

Rincewind comes across as more-or-less competent in this one, as well as snarky and world-weary, rather than the greedy, paranoid, "RUN AWAY!!!" self in the earlier books.

This makes sense, since it would be very difficult to solve puzzles if Rincewind was always running away. Also, Rincewind does become more sarcastic and world-weary in the later books. He still runs away a lot, though.

I remember the broad strokes of the game’s story... basically Reaper Man with a Moving Pictures-style ending, and of course Rincewind in the lead... but the details are pretty fuzzy. Luckily, you shared a video.

So, clearly (and by “clearly,” I mean I’m pulling this from the place where the sun does not shine), Death was filming Rincewind while he slept when the assassin showed up with the time bomb, and Death stepped in. That footage got spliced into the film after the original version didn’t land, though it didn’t exactly save it. Then Rincewind added the elf queen footage, which then led to the “Queen Kong” ending.
