RIP Bill. I heard about this last night, but I was too young to have seen The Goodies when it first ran. However, I heard it was like the televisual equivalent of The Goon Show; is that right?

I remember when The Goodies was first broadcast in the States, following on the heels of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Oddie was always my favorite of the three. I think back then (I was around 14 or 15) I thought that MP was the better of the two, but I always seemed to laugh more during the Goodies episodes. Of course, then a couple years later Fawlty Towers flew in Across the Pond and it made sitcome-like shows like the Goodies seem like music hall by comparison.
