(By the way, why do Asian-sounding* names in Discworld always sound like something out of Gilbert and Sullivan? "Ting Ling", "Song Sung Lo", "Soon Shine Sun" etc.

I realise it's wordplay, and I don't expect complete realism. But not everything needs a 'jokey' name -- and I'm sure that not everything does. I'm sure that the "Cadre" of kids in "Interesting Times" has more realistic names than "Soon Shine Sun". At least, they don't have names like Black Bean Beef etc. (which, of course, STP never used). What's your view?)

The individual phonemes are legit. The names are in a comic novel.
People routinely make lists of perfectly normal English names and laugh at them - Capability Brown, Praise-God Barebone, etc.
