Look, he reckons that people borrowing from libraries means less people buying his books outright. Which is a touch unfair for those with a budget, and to whom a lending library is a boon.

Here's the quote from Wikipedia's article on Deary, which comes from an article in The Guardian...

So, why do you write books to encourage people to read while you deride libraries for being a vital part of the same attitude? Yeah, you're a ****ing hypocrite, Terry Deary. Plus, your comparisons are crap. You want to complain? Then go do it to a wall.
Not to mention that he's wrong. :-\ Libraries are not free; they're funded by part of the rates that we pay the local council every year.

We all pay for a library whether we use it or not, so why not use it? ;)

I have a feeling Deary hasn't looked at his rates carefully (like I have). =P

No, I just think he's greedy for more royalties instead of being glad and grateful that his books encourage more kids to read about history. You get more than a few authors like that who, when they taste success, become lifetimes in their own legend. Alan Moore is another.
